Grown Up Glitter Mickey Shirt

Grown Up Glitter Mickey Shirt

This idea was born in a frenzy of Disney and glitter. The pieces of this shirt looked sad next to the sparkly pieces of the auction shirts, surely a little glitter would be okay on me too; we’ll be in Disney after all.

This is the last of my Burdastyle Projects for February. This pattern (Burdastyle 2/2103 Pattern 126) is great, certain to become a staple in my wardrobe. There are similar elements to this shirt which initially made me hesitant to try it, since that shirt was such a flop. But I love raglan tees on the kids and I’ve been looking for one to love on myself. My perseverance (this is really only my third) has finally paid off. There is a little gaping at the neckline, but nothing that can’t be fixed in future versions. It could be that the knit I’m using is too soft and stretchy.

The only modification I made was to use a self-fabric ribbing at the neckline, instead of bias binding. I didn’t even add length to compensate for my above average height, and the shirt is a bit too long. I know what you are thinking…not quite enough bling. Don’t worry, I added a little to the back.

I will wear this with pride at Disneyland. After Disneyland? I’m not sure. What do you think? Are you ever too old for glitter? Mickey?
